Relocating to Huntsville with the FBI or Space Command

The FBI has been at Redstone Arsenal for more than 50 years, and fbi.gov says more than 1,300 personnel work there today. The bureau is building two campuses on the Arsenal. In 2026 an FBI official told the Redstone Rocket that the FBI's Redstone headcount is expected to reach 4,000 by 2030. That includes more than 500 personnel moving from the National Capital Region.

U.S. Space Command is moving its headquarters to Redstone Arsenal. When the move was announced on September 2, 2025, the City of Huntsville said about 1,400 Space Command jobs would transition to Redstone over the next five years, and that about 60 acres near the center of the Arsenal had been identified for the headquarters. The command has set a goal of having at least half of the command operating from Redstone by the end of 2028, and it is moving ahead with a purpose-built Command and Control Facility on the Arsenal.

Both missions are on the Arsenal, so the same gate rules apply. Gate 9 on Rideout Road is open 24/7, and the other gates keep shorter weekday hours. See the gate table in our Redstone relocation guide, and check the official Redstone page for current hours.
